Francis Lagan Memorial Football Finals Night
Our footballers were privileged to participate in the inaugural Francis Lagan Football Finals Night in Owenbeg last night. Eighteen primary school teams took part in a fantastic evening of football which showcased all that is good about our games. All games were played in a truly sporting manner with excellent skills on display. Our boys were handed the toughest of draws in the quarter final against New Row but after an absolutely brilliant game we went to sudden death extra time with a wonder score from Caolan saw us over the line. A very quick turnaround saw us taking on St Brigid’s Tirkane in the semi final. The boys left everything on the pitch but just came up short at the end, with Tirkane going on to be crowned Division 1 winners. But the real winner on the night was football which was dedicated to the memory of Mr Lagan who would certainly have been so proud and no doubt he was smiling down on everyone last night. Well done to everyone last night especially Mr Convery and the boys.
